Building Soil and Community

In early June, Roots Farm in northern Kitsap County, hosted an on-farm Vermiculture workshop. Jennifer Clark, farm owner, taught participants how to divert food scraps from the waste stream and transform them into nutrient-rich worm castings through vermicomposting. The hands-on class provided practical tools for farmers, gardeners, and community members to reduce organic waste, improve soil health, and contribute to a more sustainable local food system.

Roots Farm received a Public Participation Grant (PPG) from the Washington State Department of Ecology. The KCAA acts as Fiscal Sponsors for this grant, using our 503c-3 status as a non-profit to manage the funds.
