Our Board

KCAA Board

KCAA board members volunteer their time and effort to the cause of raising awareness about the role of local agriculture on the Kitsap Peninsula.

Marilyn Holt, President
Marilyn Holt is owner and co-farmer of Abundantly Green Certified Organic Produce at Holt Ranch. She was raised on this family farm that she now co-farms with her husband Clifford Wind. It has been in the family since 1892, and is on the border of North and Central Kitsap, near Brownsville and Central Valley. Abundantly Green provides one of the county’s fastest growing CSA programs, and sells produce at the Poulsbo Farmers Market. Marilyn is a management consultant, and her practice includes buying and selling privately held businesses and owner/officer level coaching. She is the author of many articles on growing businesses, and was a founding member of the Northwest Entrepreneurs Network. Marilyn is an advocate of local, wholesome, farm fresh food.

Jade Pope, Vice President
Jade KCAA believes in advocating for local agriculture and working to create a complete network of local producers, processors, retailers, and consumers. I believe that this progressive approach will help to build mutual support & respect between farmers & non-farmers rather than the “us versus them” mentality that is so pervasive in our society.

Peggy Hall, Treasurer
Peggy is active with KCAA so that its members can join forces to educate the public on the health and economic benefits of buying local and help teach and encourage the next crop of farmers.  She would like to encourage the KCAA to continue to support organizations such as the Kitsap Food Co-op and Puget Sound Meat Producers Coop (PSMPC). She is a retired Army Reserve Master Sergeant (E-8) who spent 4 years on active duty as a Television Production Specialist at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. Peggy currently works at the Naval Hospital in Bremerton Washington as a Data Analyst.

Scott Hall, Director
Scott is a strong advocate of keeping our farmlands in production. He is a founder of the Legacy Farm Project, which he is working to make a model of agricultural sustainability and education for the following generations. Before focusing on farming, Scott was a a Nuclear Weapons Specialist in the U.S. Army for 7 years, and inspected, disassembled and re-assembled 7 different types of nuclear warheads, and taught others how to do the same. He spent decades variously as a Physical Science Technician, an Employee Development Specialist, and a Drug Program Coordinator.

Jared Hankins, Director
Handsown Homegrown

Nikki Johanson, Director
Nikki Johanson is co-owner of Pheasant Fields Farms, a family-run farm in Silverdale that has been in her family for over 50 years. A long-standing leader in the Kitsap agricultural community, Nikki was a founding member of the Poulsbo Farmers Market and launched one of the county’s first CSA programs. Pheasant Fields Farm offers fresh produce, poultry, beef, flowers, and eggs, along with farm tours, educational programs and family entertainment on the farm.

Lindsey McGarrity, Director

Chris Plemmons, CEC, AAC, Director
Chris has over 20 years of experience as a chef and food service professional. He is a Certified Executive Chef and a member of the American Academy of Chefs. He has participated in several local food events that support the community, including KCAA’s own Chef’s Showcase of locally grown food; Festival of Trees Gala Dinner; food preparation demonstrations at local farmers’ markets (Poulsbo, Bremerton, Port Orchard, Auburn); He keeps current in his field by participating in ongoing continuing education programs offered by the American Culinary Federation. Chris is active in the Washington State Chefs Association and currently serves on the Board of Trustees.

Jeff Waite, Director
Jeff and his wife Jocelyn managed Harbour Public House and Harbour Marina, businesses that Jocelyn’s parents created from the 1880s era Grow Family waterfront homestead on Bainbridge Island. In 2007, they acquired Pegasus Coffee House. Jeff believes that “We need to encourage folks to be growers, so we can buy what they grow. At this point in time, there’s not a lot grown that we have access to. Our beer list has, from day one, been a Washington-only commitment, so making a commitment to local food production is consistent with our desire to celebrate our region’s successes.”
